Wizkid attended Ijebu Ode Grammar School. Wizkid attended university but did not complete his studies. He gained admission into Lagos State University. After that, however, he dropped out of the university and gained admission he was a 200L student at Lead City University studying International Studies until 2010, when he dropped out and pursued a career in music.
Wizkid Music Career
He signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) after dropping out of university in 2009. In the same year, he began work on his debut studio album under the stage name ‘Wizkid,’ titled ‘Superstar.’ On January 2, 2010, he released the album’s lead song, “Holla at Your Boy.” The second single from the album, ‘Tease Me/Bad Guy,’ was released on April 2, 2010, while the third single, ‘Don’t Dull,’ was released on December 6, 2010. On June 12, 2011, the complete album was released under the EME label. The CD had songs in both English and Yoruba.
He inked an endorsement deal with Pepsi in 2012, reportedly worth $350,000 USD. The same year, he began production on his second studio album, ‘Ayo.’ The album’s original title was ‘Chosen,’ but it was eventually changed to ‘Ayo.’ The album’s debut song, ‘Jaiye Jaiye,’ was released on May 2, 2013, and featured Nigerian musician Femi Kuti. The album came out on September 6, 2014. Artists such as Femi Kuti, Banky W, Seyi Shay, Phyno, Tyga, Akon, and Wale make appearances.

He contributed guest vocals to Drake’s single “One Dance” in 2016, and was also engaged in its writing and production. On May 12, 2016, the song peaked at number one on the ‘Billboard US Hot 100’ chart. The song reached the top of the charts in 15 different nations, becoming him Nigeria’s most successful pop artist. He released the tune ‘Like This’ on Drake’s OVO Radio on June 5, 2016. On July 14, 2017, he released his third album titled ‘Sounds from the Other Side’ on all digital platforms.
